JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you’ll be working in an international environment in which you can develop your talent and realize ideas and innovations within a small, passionate and high-performing team. Reporting to the Medical Lead Belux, overall purpose of the role is to drive strategic medical field activities in alignment with global initiatives and the Belux medical plan.
In close collaboration with the Medical Advisor, the MSL will manage medical scientific stakeholders and create value for patients through medical and scientific stakeholder engagement, medical scientific projects and scientific communications. The MSL will initiate planned medical activities, including scientific presentations, discussion of clinical data and programs, presentation of value proposition concepts and educational programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), scientific societies, patient advocacy groups and other key stakeholders.
- Create and execute stakeholder engagement plans, in close collaboration with the medical and commercial field teams.
- Provide field insights and support the affiliate cross-functional team in developing local brand strategy, medical tactics and budget.
- Execute the local medical affairs plan in alignment with the medical strategy.
- Enhance disease awareness and product knowledge among healthcare professionals, through effective communication and medical education, in a fair and balanced manner.
- Provide product and scientific training to the affiliate cross-functional team.
- Participate in relevant congresses, symposia and other meetings.
- Oversee, interpret and adapt to new scientific data, competitive trends and product opportunities while ensuring a high scientific level of expertise within the therapeutic area of nephrology.
- Support sponsored clinical research activities, including phase 3 or 4 studies, as well as investigator sponsored studies and post-authorization safety studies.
- Facilitate and manage compassionate use and/or medical need programs, if appropriate.
- Implement and manage local patient support programs, if appropriate.
- Make sure that the values and culture are applied at all times while complying with all legal, regulatory, ethical and socially responsible standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Scientific master level degree or PhD; biomedical, pharmacy or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant medical pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Existing strong engagement with the local nephrology KOL network is highly preferred.
- Affinity with rare diseases and/or specialty care products is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in communication with medical authorities, hospitals, physicians /specialists and KOLs as well as other healthcare professionals.
- Multi-stakeholder project management and leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to deliver results on time and within budget.
- Ability to work well in both a team environment and independently.
- Proficient in French, Dutch, and English.
