Job description
Our client, headquartered, is a leading European developer and
manufacturer of high-quality and environmentally responsible chemicals for the fire safety
industry, both passive (fire-resistant) and active (fire-extinguishing). This Belgian financially
sound group has operations in Belgium, Germany, France, UK and Israel and employs around
100 people.
THE POSITION
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Portable Extinguisher Application Engineer specialized in
portable extinguishers to manage and oversee fire tests for portable extinguishers, both
in-house and externally. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the
hardware and equipment associated with portable extinguishers and will be responsible
for ensuring the effectiveness and reliability of our fire suppression solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fire Test Management
- Plan, coordinate, and execute fire tests for portable extinguishers in-house and at
external testing facilities.
- Analyze test results to assess the performance of fire fighting agents and
extinguisher hardware.
Product Evaluation and Development
- Collaborate with innovation teams to evaluate new fire fighting agents and
extinguisher designs.
- Provide technical insights and recommendations to improve product performance
and safety.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., UL, NFPA, EN) and certifications.
Equipment and Hardware Expertise
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the design, function, and maintenance of
portable fire extinguishers.
- Oversee the selection and integration of components and materials for
extinguisher hardware.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to extinguisher operation and
performance.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare detailed test reports, including data analysis, findings, and
recommendations.
- Document all test procedures, methodologies, and results in compliance with
company and regulatory standards.
- Present findings to stakeholders, including Innovation and Product Management.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all testing activities comply with safety protocols and regulatory
requirements.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to fire
fighting agents and portable extinguishers.
- Participate in external audits and inspections as required.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing processes, product
performance, and safety.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and advancements in fire suppression
systems and agents.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Experience and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years in fire fighting agents, fire suppression systems, or related fields.
- Experience managing and conducting fire tests for portable extinguishers.
- Hands-on experience with portable fire extinguishe equipment.
- Strong understanding of fire dynamics, suppression mechanisms, and agent
chemistry.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., UL, NFPA, EN) and regulatory
requirements.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting
- Languages
o Fluent in English (speaking & writing)
o Fluent in Dutch is a plus
