Product Manager Ophthalmology

Job description

Develop, implement and be accountable for product marketing, IPS plans which optimise profitability, market share and revenue growth of allocated products in the short and long term

Job responsibilities

  • Develop strategic marketing plans in line with standards and corporate strategy
  • Propose accurate Market Share/Market Share Growth grids to sales force management for individual products
  • Develop, implement and adapt operational plans in line with corporate strategic product objectives
  • Develop and produce promotional and advertising tools in order to maximize the support for FF
  • Communicate effectively within the organisation to ensure the motivation and alignment of sales force and other key departments and to ensure the achievement of product objectives
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key customers to support current and future product objectives
  • Be recognised as the “Product Champion” by developing and continuously updating own, FF and sales managers’ knowledge regarding disease areas, therapies, allocated products and markets
  • Monitor and control product performance and adjust plans accordingly
  • Anticipate future trends in disease management and market environment which are likely to affect the performance and potential of the product
  • Manage inventory levels of allocated products ensuring continuous supply at minimum necessary inventory levels
  • Monitor and understand alternative & competitive actors in the market for the allocated products and pro-actively define / adjust value proposition of allocated solution / service / products towards all stakeholders
  • Use cross-functional competencies and networks available within the organization to be the differentiator for physicians and patients

Requirements

Minimum degree acceptable: Master degree in Science and/or degree in Business

Desirable degrees : University degree in Science and/or degree in Business, nurse

French, Dutch, English: good written & spoken

Professional Competencies

  • Business Acumen: Drive for commercial success, good analytical skills, constant drive for success and improvement
  • Product/Therapy knowledge: Posses an in-depth knowledge of product, dosage forms, disease treatment and alternative therapy
  • Market knowledge and planning: Be sensitive to market dynamics, regional differences, segmentation, pricing strategies and have an understanding of marketing research
  • Promotional aids: Recommend and initiate direct mail and journal advertisement programs, sample formats, visual aids and literature required for detailing
  • Advertising & Promotion: Prepare advertising agency briefing for the new product promotions
  • Sales force dynamics: Champion of a product with and understanding of the necessity of interdepartment collaboration and seen as a specialist by the field force

  • Collaboration: Leads functional teams from sales and marketing service, medical affairs, clinical development and manufacturing & distribution. Oversees the general direction of symposia in co-operation with the marketing services department

  • Customer Focus: Builds and maintains close relationship with local opinion leaders
  • Results Focus: Understands the patient and prescriber profile while supporting sales representatives’ needs. Analytical with focus on sales performance and related KPI’s (Key performance indicators) is critical (QTQ metrics) and competitive benchmarking
  • Change Orientation: Able to influence and persuade those over whom there is no direct control (e.g. Sales Rep.)
  • Communication: Demonstrates strong communication skills, provide input to field managers & reps., report writing and presentation skills
