Head of Medical Advisors
Manage Medical Advisors locally with commitment to develop people, process, innovation and external focus.
Responsible for resource planning and management (FTEs and Med Affairs budget) within Business Unit.
Supports interactions of Medical Advisors with Scientific Operations and Head of Medical Scientific Liaisons to ensure market preparation pre- and post-launch.
Expertise and cross-functional Medical Support: provides, with the team of medical advisors, a broad and deep understanding of all therapeutic area in order to be seen as a credible medical and scientific expert by internal and external customers.
Drives medical and cross-functional collaboration within country, with Regional and Global Teams and for local Clinical Development activities.
Oversees all local medical and scientific contributions to global clinical development programs.
Provides strategic and tactical guidance for clinical teams and allied departments in local country. Contributes senior level expertise for projects as member of relevant local management boards as per assignment.
Local studies and publications: Actively ensures together with team of medical advisors and Med Affairs Excellence manager, quality of study protocols, reports, summaries and publications from all Med Affairs activities.
Oversees together with Patient Safety local clinical trial adverse event reporting as well as clinical input and oversight into adherence to GCP.
Ensures the right mix of KEEs in investigators selected for local and global studies.
Ensures strategic alignment and collaboration with commercial and market access teams.
Responsible for co-leading franchise board with Business Franchise Head (Medical Director will lead other franchise board)
Drives Medical Affairs pre-launch activities together with team of medical advisors and Head of MSLs to deliver messages to key influencers and stakeholders, with ownership for exceeding customers' needs and expectations across the therapeutic area.
Develops and supports a strong network of external contacts (KEEs, key external customers, investigators, academic and regulatory community).
Coordinates and ensures product / disease and therapies training on assigned therapy area and medicines to internal and external customers, including the field force
Presents highest ethical standards and contributes proactively to a credible image for the country in the local Health Care and Medical community.
Assists in ensuring local adherence to compliance and local regulations.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Quality planning of Medical Affairs budget for strategic brands
Medical Affairs projects and support per agreed strategy and budget (in terms of value and
timing) for strategic brands
Knowledge of the disease area, patient journey, therapies and diagnostic tools
Scientific and medical reputation with key customers, investigators, opinion leaders & HCPs
High quality interaction and results driven approach with cross-functional brand team
members, MSLs and TMO organisation
Demonstrated commitment to team and people development
Skills and personality
University degree in human sciences: PhD or MD or equivalent by expertise and experience
French, Dutch, English: good written & spoken
Prior experience in Pharma Industry and in Medical Affairs
More than 3 years of demonstrated managerial experience in the pharmaceutical industry
with focus on medical research or equivalent experience obtained in hospital environment
in the relevant therapeutic areas.
State-of-the-art medical, scientific and clinical knowledge.
Specialization and expertise in oncology and/or hematology.
Strong leadership and proven management, planning, and communication skills.
Management of both scientific and operational aspects of clinical drug development.
Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
Familiar with respective health authority, GCP and ICH requirements, including regulations
of promotional materials.
Expert in all aspects of clinical drug development including experience designing and/or
executing clinical studies to address local BF/BU needs.
Successful development and implementation of innovative programs and processes.
